The Otorii
Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima Island, Hiroshima Prefecture
Kidding aside, this is meant for birds. For long, I have thought of it as an entrance or gate to a Shinto shrine. True. But, in Japanese Nihongi and Kojiki, this structure was improvised for a rooster to roost and trick a goddess.

that is according to the Shinto story to look like a torii
but those familiar structures also are located at gates
hope to visit Japan in the future. My kuya lives there and I only have to shell out my airfare to tokyo :)
ngayon ko lang nalaman na para din pala sa mga ibon ang structures na ito... akala ko dati eh entrance/gate lang ang purpose nila.
